Frequently Asked Questions

How does AccessiShield scan my store?
We visit your Shopify store URL with a headless browser and run an automated WCAG 2.1 AA audit on each page. The scanner checks for common accessibility issues like missing alt text, form labels, color contrast, heading structure, keyboard navigation, and ARIA attributes. Results are delivered as a detailed report with specific code fixes for each violation found.
What are "code patches"?
For each accessibility violation we find, our AI generates a specific fix for your Shopify theme's Liquid template code. You see exactly what will change in a side-by-side diff view — the old code and the new code. You review each fix and decide whether to apply or dismiss it. Nothing changes in your store until you approve it.
Why are there page limits per scan?
Each page scan involves loading the page in a real browser and running a thorough accessibility audit, then generating AI-powered code fixes for every violation. This takes time and resources to do well. Page limits ensure every scan is deep and accurate rather than surface-level. Starter plans scan 3 pages, Professional scans 5, and Business scans 10 — enough to cover your homepage, key collection pages, and product pages where most violations occur.
What happens after my free scan?
Your free scan report is emailed to you within minutes. It shows the top accessibility violations found on your store with severity ratings. To see all violations and get the actual code fixes, you can subscribe to a paid plan. There is no obligation — the free scan is genuinely free, no credit card required.
Is AccessiShield an overlay widget?
No. Overlay widgets inject a JavaScript toolbar onto your site that attempts to fix accessibility issues in the visitor's browser. They don't change your actual code, and the FTC has fined overlay companies for misleading compliance claims. AccessiShield takes the opposite approach — we scan your theme's source code, find the specific lines that cause violations, and generate real Liquid template fixes. The fixes live in your code permanently.
How does pricing work?
Plans start at $49/month (Starter) with annual billing available at a 10% discount. All plans include code fix generation and compliance PDF reports. Professional ($99/month) adds weekly automated monitoring and AI deep analysis. If you upgrade mid-cycle, Stripe prorates automatically — you only pay the difference for the rest of your billing period.
Do I need technical skills to use this?
You need basic familiarity with your Shopify theme editor to apply code fixes. Each fix shows a clear before/after diff so you can see exactly what changes. If you're comfortable editing your theme code in Shopify's admin (or having someone on your team do it), you can use AccessiShield. We do not require any app installs or account connections.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. All plans are cancel-anytime with no long-term commitment. You can manage your subscription from the billing page in your dashboard, or contact us at support@accessishield.app. Code fixes you've already applied to your theme stay in place after cancellation.
Do you support WordPress?
Not yet. AccessiShield currently supports Shopify stores only. WordPress support (with PHP/child theme patch generation) is planned for a future release. If you'd like to be notified when WordPress support launches, let us know.
What data do you collect?
We collect your email address and store URL to run scans and deliver reports. We never see or store your credit card information (Stripe handles payments), we don't require a password (sign-in is via magic link or Google), and we don't collect your phone number. See our privacy policy for full details.
